Monday December 22nd

Yesterday we spent some time lashing tables, chairs and outdoor mats to our picnic table!  We were travelling light to Fort Wilderness, and left a lot of our outdoor camping gear behind at Canopy Oaks.

Today we were up bright and early but took it slow and easy as we did the final preparations to move.  Carol battened everything down inside while I worked outside disconnecting all the utilities.  We pulled out at 9:30 a.m.

It's only a 60 mile trip, but traffic on Highway 27 and Interstate 4 is very heavy, the trip took two hours!  We arrived at Fort Wilderness at 11:30.

The campsite they assigned for us, #521, was much too small for us, so Carol headed to the office and arranged to move to a better location.  After a bite of lunch in the RV we moved to site #530 and got set up for our 5 night stay.  It's a lovely site; turkeys wandered through and families paddled past in canoes while we worked!

After the dogs were fed, we drove to Disney Springs and had dinner at D-Luxe Burger.  Delicious, but messy!

The dogs enjoyed another evening of 'looping' once we got home.  There are amazing decorations everywhere

This gal watched as we set up our campsite!  Jasper kept an eye on her!

Black cherry shake!

These stilt-walkers were over 10 feet tall!

Dozens and dozens of storm troopers in Christmas sweaters!

Tuesday December 23rd

Carol was a happy girl . . . another Tuesday morning with new pins scheduled for release at the Magic Kingdom.  How exciting!  She was up before the birds and headed to the Fort Wilderness Marina.  The first boat pulled away as Carol walked along the dock at 7:00 a.m.  Another boat arrived in just a few minutes and off she went!

I stayed home with the dogs for an hour, then left to join Carol after she had her new pins.  When I got to the park at 8:50 she was at Gaston's enjoying a new-found delicacy, a crème brûlèe croissant!  She made it sound tasty, so I had one too!

Then we did a few rides, Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, and Country Bears.

After a hot dog at Casey's we headed home and took the dogs out for some day-time looping!  Naturally we stopped at the dog park!

Later we drove to Hollywood Studios and enjoyed dinner at '50's Prime Time, meatloaf for me, chicken pot pie for Carol.  We wrapped up with a ride on Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, then headed home.  The dogs insisted on more looping.

Seriously . . . Jasper wouldn't stop bouncing until we took him looping!

She really was up before the birds!

The pin collectors lined up at the entrance to Liberty Square and at 7:45 they were all led to the pin store in the Frontier Trading Post.

She was all done by 8:10 a.m.

Liberty Square was deserted early in the morning!

Meanwhile, at 8:10 I missed this boat by about seven seconds!

A crème brûlèe croissant.  Yummy!

The decorations look great in daylight too!

Those storm troopers again

Horse-drawn sleighs pass our campsite all evening!

After a tasty dinner at '50's Prime Time Café we took a spin on the Runaway Railway!

Then more looping.  Jasper insisted!

The dogs enjoyed their final night of looping!

At 9:00 p.m. Carol and I took a horse-drawn sleigh ride!

Disney's 1907 dragon calliope - a horse-drawn steam organ!

This is Skylar.

The seats on the sleigh are higher than the golf cart and give a different perspective!

Two sleigh rides leave the stable every half-hour.

Our horse was named Kal.

He's a black percheron!

Saturday December 27th - Back to Canopy Oaks

Bye bye Mickey!
